This was a posting for the Illustration Friday theme, Surrender. I chose to illustrate it as "Never Surrender" (Winston Churchill). This is my posting for the Illustration Friday Warning theme. I chose a retro Mad Men-type scenario and decor. There is clearly tension in the room; the woman in the centre is highly suspicious of the one closest to us.
This is my posting for the Illustration Friday Layers theme. This painting portrays Sufism; a mystical sect of Islam otherwise known as the Whirling Dervishes . They are influenced by other religions as well, including Buddhism. Their ceremonial dance (and trance) is meant to represent a mystical journey through the layers of the mind and love, to the Perfect . I have also designed the painting as a physically layered image.
